Totara Street Review

The gig at Totara Street was a great success, although it almost did not go ahead due to low online ticket sales.
Tauranga is a fickle place to host events such as this, and at this time of year it is even harder to tempt people from their homes to attend such events.
Despite low online ticket sales, we were confident that enough people had intentions of attending, and we were confident we would attain a big enough audience to proceed, but not enough to fill the huge performance space downstairs at Totara Street.
If you have been there you will know that it is a superb venue with the best stage and PA system in town that holds upwards of 500 people.
We estimated we may get about 100 people to our event so we chose to host the show in the UPSTAIRS lounge area of the venue on the mezzanine floor. We talked the venue owner into putting in a small stage and small PA system, and what a brilliant move that turned out to be. It is an "L" shaped room and the band played in the corner, with viewing on both sides of the stage. The room is fitted out with couches and coffee tables, and the effect was like watching a live band in your LOUNGE, and the atmosphere was perfect.
The support band LOUNGE DOGS were up first, and I heard nothing but great reviews, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed their set myself. Great band, great material, and even greater bunch of guys - I hope Brilleaux can do another gig with them in the future.
Thanks to all those that attended, I hope you enjoyed the gig as much as we did.
